I got a project from a freelance website which required upgrading of prestashop to version 1.2.5 from 1.1.0.5. Thought it was a very easy task.

The site is located at www.frickalia.com. Okey it was not easy. There were scripts to upgrade it automatically, but they failed.

I search through the forums, and found the solution after a lot of effort. The database schema needed to be fixed and upgraded manually. Inconsistent data needed to be removed from 1.1.0.5 version.

Anyway, after upgrading a new problem occurred which virtually shut down the website. It was the new SMTP framework of prestashop. People struggled to solve it. But everything was in vain. The shop was postponed for several months.

Then just suddenly I found a solution. Replacing the whole new SMTP framework with the older one from 1.1.0.5!

Anyway, then I built some modules for frickalia.com. It was a pain upgrading and fixing things for prestashop. And that’s why I learnt a lot of things about it fast

I am planning to make a simple gift card module. It will not work like current prestashop vouchers. A card can be used as many times as needed to spend all the money it would have.

I would like a gift card to be bought like normal products. If you have any suggestion on how it may work, please leave a comment. Also mention how much would you are willing spend on such a module. I need to know if it’s worth my effort and set a nice price.

I want to make in such a way to solve prestashop’s 1-time-use voucher codes, too. You can actually use it like a prepaid card made only for your shop.
